The Newcastle University Politics Placement Project is a website linked to a second year work experience module.  The module gives students the opportunity to gain valuable work experience, improving their employability while also helping our partner organisations.  The placements can all be described as 'political' in a broad sense as the work is centred round significant social issues that connect to political themes such as social justice and the impact of political decision-making at national and local levels.

Started in 2016 with just seven students taking the module and five host organisations, it has now expanded to twenty students and around a dozen host organisations each year.  Host organisations have included Youth Focus North East, Shelter, Changing Lives, West End Refugee Service, Friends Action North East, Northumberland Sport, The Key, Newcastle University Go Volunteer, and various local Labour Party constituency offices.

The work carried out by the students has varied in nature from hands-on work with service users to research and report-writing.  This website showcases some of the reports completed by students on behalf of the organisations where they have been placed.
